Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 500.0 points up at 23328.55 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Nxt-Infra Trust, Eros Media, Poddar Housing, Varanium Cloud and Kesoram Inds., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 48 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 2 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, IndusInd Bank, Shriram Finance, Tata Motors, L&T and Adani Ent. were among top gainers during the day, while ITC, HUL, Power Grid, Nestle India and Kotak Bank ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 1577.63 points up at 76734.89. Traders piled up positions in General, IT Enabled Services, Services, Auto and Engineering sectors, while selling was witnessed in Tobacco, ReIT, InvIT, Textiles and Gas & Petroleum sectors during the day.
