Madrid’s Mayor, José Luis Martínez Almeida, addressed Real Madrid’s decision to postpone upcoming concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. During the XXIII Fundación Clínica Menorca Charity Golf Tournament, where he discussed various issues including the heavy match schedule for Madrid-based football teams, the Mayor emphasized the importance of finding a solution that benefits all parties involved.
“Real Madrid has adopted a solution that I think is very responsible and also difficult,” Almeida stated, referring to the postponement of concerts at the stadium. “When you have carried out a renovation of this nature and have hosted concerts of such magnitude, it shows Real Madrid’s and the City Council’s dedication to providing a solution that ensures the comfort of the residents.
“But at the same time, we must recognize that this infrastructure now allows Madrid to host events and concerts that were previously not possible.”
The postponement is part of Real Madrid’s broader efforts to manage the impact of events at the Bernabéu on the local community, while also maximizing the venue’s potential as a hub for major sporting and cultural events.
When asked about the ongoing debate over who the best goalkeeper in football history is, Almeida humorously responded, “Oblak; the second-best is Courtois, with all due respect.”
